The irradiation accuracy and the conformity achievable with charged particles beams help to minimize damage to the surrounding healthy tissues and Organs At Risk (OAR) in tumor proximity. To fully take advantage of the improved therapy spatial selectiveness a novel monitoring technique is required in order to provide on-line a high precision feedback on the position of the maximum dose release, the Bragg Peak (BP), during the treatment.
