Emine Sevgi Özdamar, Rita Ceresi, Yasemin Samdereli : due scrittrici e una filmmaker nel nuovo Occidente transculturale

Abstract

Le opere di Emine Sevgi Özdamar, Rita Ciresi e Yasemin Şamdereli riflettono la nostra società contemporanea, in continua trasformazione, anche in virtù della sua ricchezza multietnica e transculturale, in due Paesi particolarmente rappresentativi di tale trasformazione, seppure tra loro distanti e distinti: Stati Uniti e Germania. Sono tre artiste che appartengono a minoranze, e ognuna a una minoranza – quella femminile – dentro una minoranza. Le chiavi di lettura e di analisi proposte per tutte e per ciascuna delle tre autrici mirano a lasciar emergere ciò che le rende, ognuna nella propria specificità, figure non convenzionali eppure emblematiche della nostra epoca. Il lavoro di Özdamar si presta a più ipotesi interpretative. Prima tra tutte quella che affronta il legame tra la lingua e il corpo, che conferisce originalità ai suoi testi. In Ciresi, l’attenzione va posta al suo peculiare sguardo ironico, un’analisi che consente di apprezzare la sua produzione di racconti e di romanzi. Il centro nevralgico della pellicola Almanya di Şamdereli è dato dal punto di vista dei Gastarbeiter, un’operazione che non semplifica la loro storia in Germania, ma offre la poliedricità drammatica, ma non solo, della loro esperienza tra integrazione e vincoli con le origini. Proposito della tesi è anche quello di porre in rilievo gli elementi che le accomunano e che rendono le loro opere innovative e capaci di entrare in sintonia con i processi trasformativi del nostro tempo. Il denominatore comune delle tre artiste è essenzialmente quello di non appartenere a una specifica cultura di provenienza, da cui pur provengono, né di aderire a quella di arrivo, a cui pure appartengono, né di esserne il risultato della somma. Semmai di un incontro in divenire. Questo impalpabile e indefinibile carattere comune le rende grandi artiste del nostro tempo.

The work of Emine Sevgi Özdamar, Rita Ciresi and Yasemin Şamdereli reflects our continuously changing contemporary society, thanks also to its multi-ethnic and transcultural wealth, in two countries that are particularly representative of this transformation, albeit distant and distinct one from the other, the United States and Germany. They are three artists that belong to minorities, and each to a minority within a minority, that of women. The key to the interpretation and analysis proposed for all three and for each of the three artists is aimed at allowing the emergence of all that makes them unconventional and yet emblematic figures of our times, each with their own specificity. Özdamar’s work lends itself to various interpretative hypotheses. The first of these is the one addressing the bond between language and the body conferring originality to her texts. In Ciresi, attention must be paid to her particular ironic perspective; an analysis that allows one to appreciate her short stories and her novels. The neuralgic centre in the film Almanya, directed by Şamdereli, arises from the perspective of Gastarbeiters, an operation that does not simplify their experience in Germany, but portrays the dramatic versatility, and not just that, of their experiences of integration and their bond with their origins. The objective of this thesis also consists of emphasising the elements they share and that make their work innovative and able to be on the same wavelength as the transformative processes of our times. The common denominator for these three artists is essentially that of not belonging to a specific culture of origin, although it exists, and not adhering to that of their countries of arrival, to which they also belong, nor are they the result of the sum of both cultures. If anything, they belong to a developing culture. It is this intangible and undefinable shared characteristic makes them great artists of our times.
