Abstract: Buuggan Leo Reinish wuxuu ku soo ururiyay qaybtiisa hore(ilaa bogga 187) sheekooyin uu ka helay Ibraahim Cabdillaahi, oo ah reer Makaahii (Habar Awal), oona la shaqaynaayay kooxda Royal Academy oo mar ay sahan ku samaynaysay Koonfur Areebiya (1899). Sheekooyinka kale waxaa uga sheekeeyey Yuusuf Cali (reer Samano, Habar Toljecelo). Sheekooyinkani waxay muujinayaan warar muhim ah oo ku saabsan: nolosha, dhanqka, caadooyinka iyo siyaabaha ay u fekeraan dadyowga soomaaliyeed. Waxay kaloo waxtar u leeyihin daraasaadka dhismaha naxwaha iyo ereyada af-soomaaliga ee xilligaa jiray. Qoraagu wuxuu dareemay farqiga weyn ee u dhexeeya macluumaadkiisa iyo waxyaabaha uu soo ururiyay saaxiibkiisa A. W. Schleicher (1899), gaar ahaan xagga habqoraalka. Taasina waxaa u sabab ah in Schleicher uu soomaali reer cadmeed ah la kaashaday muddo aad u gaaban, sidaa darteed kuma fillaanin sidii dhegtiisa u barato dhawaaqyada af-soomaaliga, haddaba uma suurtoobin inuu si sax ah u kala saaro dhawaaqyada qaarkood. Arrinta ku saabsan xagga farqiga hab-qoraalkiisa iyo midka qorayaalka kale (de Larajasse, Cyprien de Sampont), Reinish wuxuu ku sharraxi doona buugaagta midkan ku xiga oo ku saabsanaan doonaan naxwaha iyo qaamuuska.
In this volume Leo Reinish relates (till page 187) the stories told him by Ibrahim Abdillah, a Somali of the Makahil clan (Habar-Awal tribe) who joined the scientific expedition of the Royal Academy to Southern Arabia (returned to Vienna in early 1899). The other stories have been told by Jusuf Ali from the clan of the Samano (Haba-Dscha'alo tribe), entrusted by Count Eduard Wickenburg. The texts collected provide an excellent documentation of the life, morals, habits and way of thinking of the Somali people. They are also precious for the study of the grammatical structure and the lexicon of the Somali language at that time. The author notes a great difference with respect to the texts collected by A. W. Schleicher (published in 1899), as far as accents and prosody are concerned. This is attributed to the fact that Schleicher worked with Somali people in Aden for too short a period to get acquainted with the sounds of that language: even the finest ear is unable to discern immediately all kinds of phonetic distinctions in an exact manner. As for the several deviations from the transcriptions provided by other authors (de Larajasse, Cyprien de Sampont), they will be justified and explained in the grammar and the vocabulary which are to follow the present volume of texts.
