Women's voice in a men's world: The power of song in the recent history of Northern Somali society

Abstract

Objective of this paper is to study women's songs as sources for a diagnostic of power relations in the northern Somali society of the recent past and to examine the nature of women's social commentary upon a male-dominated world.

Ulajeeddada maqaalkani waxay tahay si loo darso heesaha haweenka, kuwaasoo muujinaya xiriirka awoodeed ee ka dhex muuqda bulshada Soomaalida woqooyi, wuxuu baaraya dabeecadda bulshadeed ee haweenka ku dhex nool meel raggu uu xukumo.

Obiettivo del presente lavoro è studiare le canzoni femminili come fonti per una diagnostica delle relazioni di potere nella società somala settentrionale del recente passato ed esaminare la natura dei commenti sociali delle donne su un mondo dominato dagli uomini.
