Abstract: The article illustrates medical and social aspects of female genital mutilation (FGM). Once classified the type of modification, the author focuses on some case studies of complications registered in the Banaadir Hospital in Mogadishu in 1984.

L'articolo riguarda gli aspetti medici e sociali della mutilazione genitale femminile (MGF). Dopo aver classificato il tipo di modificazione avvenuta, l'autore espone i dati delle complicazioni registrate nell'ospedale Benadir di Mogadiscio nell'anno 1984.
