Rahanweyn sociability: a model for other Somalis?

Abstract

The article investigates Rahanweyn forms of sociability which differ from the other Somali clans. This group - living in the inter-riverine area - has developed a combined social system that does not only rely to clanship as regulatory principle: the institution of adoption and village membership act as well, thus constituting an original and inspiring alternative model for all Somalis.

L'articolo indaga le forme di socialità dei Rahanweyn che differiscono da quelle degli altri clan somali.
