An Argument for the Category Adjective in Somali

Abstract

The chapter debates whether Somali grammar includes a true syntactic category of adjectives. Earlier scholars considered certain elements as adjectives, while later linguists reclassified them as verbs. The author challenges this view, arguing that treating them as verbs creates inconsistencies and overlooks a simpler grammatical explanation supporting the adjective category.
