The Family of Miniature Genres in Somali Oral Poetry

Abstract

This article focuses on the miniature genre of Somali oral poetry. In partucular, it decribes in detailes four generes (the wiglo, the dhaanto, the hirwo and the belwo), anlyzing their origins, their structures and their importance and use in Somali society.

Maqaalkani wuxuu ka hadlayaa maansada oo ka mid ah hiddaha soomaaliyeed ee aan qornayn. Wuxuu si gaar ah uga hadlayaa afar jaad maansadeed (wiglo, dhaanto, hirwo iyo belwo), isagoo baarayo asalkooda, dhismahooda iyo muhimmadda ay ku leeyihii bulshada soomaaliyeed.
